So, why not?

It is complicated, but in a nutshell: We want to be in control of our lives. We put God behind glass and break the glass as a last resort out of shear desperation.

The proper perspective is: God created each of us out of love and for a specific purpose; we are His. He did not intend for us to run wild, be free, and do whatever we want. Our focus should be on Him. When there is a problem, I should turn to God first, not last. He is perfect and all powerful, there is nothing He can't do. We are far from perfect and weak. Everything we have God gives us, we just don't want to admit that either. Praise God!
